• Acid Test    
  - A self assessment tool from Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber. It will assess the health of your organisation, focusing attention on strengths and areas for development. You will need a minimum of 2 years financial accounts and about 30 minutes of your time to carry out the test and you need to register to use the tool.
• ACRE     
  - Action with Communities in Rural England is the national umbrella of the Rural Community Action Network (RCAN), which operates at national, regional and local level in support of rural communities across the country.
• AIMS    
  - AIMS is a contact management database designed specifically for voluntary and community sector organisations. The entry level package is completely FREE, is fully operational and contains everything you will need to start capturing details of your clients, the work you do and the outcomes you achieve.
• Association of Charitable Foundations     
  - The Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF) is a membership association for trusts and foundations in the UK. The site contains a range of free resources for grant makers and for organisations seeking funding.
• BASSAC    
  - bassac is the national network of multi-purpose community based organisations, dedicated to tackling the causes and effects of poverty, exclusion and discrimination. As a national umbrella association, it supports organisations helping deprived neighbourhoods across the UK.
• Charities Aid Foundation    
  - The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) aims to encourage giving, social investment and the effective use of funds. Provides a range of services and resources with a focus on helping charities attract and manage donations.
• Charity Commission    
  - The Charity Commission for England and Wales is established by law as the regulator and registrar of charities in England and Wales. A range of publications and guidance are available and you can search the register of charities online.
• Community Foundations Network      
  - Community Foundations are grant making charities located across the UK. They manage funds donated by individuals and organisations and target grants that make a genuine difference to the lives of local people. You can find your local Community Foundation through this site.
• Development Trusts Association     
  - The DTA is a network of community practitioners. It aims to help people set up development trusts, and help existing trusts learn from each other and work effectively.
• Directory of Social Change      
  - The Directory of Social Change (DSC) aims to promote an independent sector at the heart of social change. Produces a range of resources and tools relating to fundraising including online grant seeking tools. You do have to pay for most of these but governmentfunding.org is free to small organisations.
• ESF News: information on the European Social Fund    
  - Official website for the European Social Fund England 2007 – 2013. News and information on ESF funding programmes for England.
• Fit4Funding    
  - The fit4funding website provides help and advice for community groups and voluntary organisations who are seeking funding.
• Funders Online     
  - The European Foundation Centre is an international association of foundations and corporate funders. Has a knowledge base on foundations and corporate funders active in and with Europe and a searchable database of these is accessible through this site.
• Fundraising for British voluntary and non-profit organisations      
  - This is one of several commercial sites which aim to provide the latest funding information from Central Government, National Lottery, devolved governing bodies, EU and quangos. You have to pay to access information on this site.
• Fundraising on the Net    
  - This is part of VolResource website. Includes links to key resources and sources of information on fundraising available online.
• Funds for historic buildings    
  - The Funds for Historic Buildings website is a comprehensive guide to funding for anyone seeking to repair, restore or convert for a new use any historic building in the United Kingdom (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) which is listed, scheduled or in a conservation area and of acknowledged historic merit.
• Governmentfunding.org      
  - Search for grants available from 15 Government departments. You have to register with the site to get at the content - this is free if your turnover is less than £500,000 a year but you have to pay if it is higher.
• Guide to Grants On-line      
  - This is one of several commercial sites which aim to provide the latest funding information. This site aims to cover Government, National Lottery, EU and Charitable Trusts. You have to pay to access information on this site.
• If you're thinking of giving money   
  - A Guide to Giving is a free handbook for anyone who would like to support charities and good causes effectively. Part of Philanthropy UK’s website - a resource offering free and impartial advice to aspiring philanthropists who want to give effectively.
• Institute of Fundraising    
  - The Institute of Fundraising is the professional body for UK fundraising. It supports fundraisers and good practice in fundraising. A range of guides and codes of practice relating to fundraising are available on this site.
• NAVCA     
  - National Association for Voluntary and Community Action in England. Find local sources of support and information for voluntary and community groups through the directory of members.
• NCVO     
  - A national umbrella organisation for England. Provides a range of advice and support services, campaigning, research and policy work.
• NICVA      
  - Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action - the umbrella body for voluntary and community organisations in Northern Ireland.
• SCVO      
  - Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations - the umbrella body for voluntary and community organisations in Scotland.
• Sustainable Funding Cymru,   
  - Practical information for voluntary and community organisations in Wales on how to develop a sustainable funding approach.
• UK fundraising advice

• BOND     
  - British Overseas NGOs for Development is a UK network of voluntary organisations working in international development. BOND aims to improve the UK's contribution to international development by promoting the exchange of experience, ideas and information.
• MANGO     
  - Management Accounting for Non Governmental Organisations (MANGO) Exists to help aid agencies and NGOs to work more effectively, and to strengthen their financial management by providing financial training and publications, networking opportunities and finance staff to work with NGOs.
• Proposals that make a difference (for overseas NGOs)    
  - A CD developed to help overseas NGO’s and not-for-profit organisations to write effective grant proposals
• Resource Alliance    
  - A UK registered charity whose mission is to build the fundraising capabilities of the non-profit sector worldwide.

• Advice Guide     
  - Online Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) service providing information and advice on benefits and housing, employment rights and discrimination, debt and tax issues. Includes a searchable directory of local Citizens Advice Bureaux.
• Association of Charity Officers help directory     
  - Over 200 benevolent and care focused charities are members of the Association of Charity Officers (ACO). Most members give grants to individuals in need and many also offer other kinds of services, support and advice. You can search the members’ directory on this site.
• Benefits A-Z

• Benevolence Today     
  - Benevolence Today is a campaign aiming to raise awareness of benevolent charities. You can use this site to find various benevolent funds and charitable organisations offering funds, support and advice to people in need.
• British Council: advice and help for overseas students seeking funding     
  - British Council: advice and help for overseas students seeking funding, including the facility to search for a scholarship and a downloadable leaflet on other sources of funding for overseas students.
• Clear Start - Consumer Debt Service   
  - Clear Start is a national organisation set up to provide free support to help people with serious debt problems. It provides a range of debt counselling and settlement services. All services provided to individuals and households are free of charge.
• Educational Grants Advisory Service     
  - The Educational Grants Advisory Service (EGAS) offers guidance and advice on funding for those studying in post-16 education in the UK. The site offers an online search for grants.
• Educational Trusts Forum    
  - Members are registered charities that are prepared to consider grants and awards to assist families in need who cannot afford educational or boarding fees. Pupils may be at independent schools or state schools where a boarding fee is charged.
• Ferret: help with welfare rights

  - The lead body for funding, development and advocacy of the arts in England. It has nine regional offices.
• Arts Council of Northern Ireland

• Awards for All    
  - Smaller grants for local communities. There are different schemes in each of the four countries in the UK which you can access from this site. Currently Awards for All England is a joint Lottery grants programme supported by Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England. From 1 April 2009 each of the lottery distributors supporting the scheme will have their own small grants programmes up and running. Further information on these changes is available from this link.
